Maybe because I am not French or simply I m too stupid, I couldn't understand what was going on until the middle of the movie. But those cool visuals, those ridiculous funny ideas and music already impressed me a lot. The director creatively mixed different elements to create something really original, fun and cool. All the scenes are perfectly shoot!!! the art direction was just amazing!!! I would say it is a must see movie for all design related people!!! ^__^

Probably only European directors could create this kinda amazing movie....

Btw, I have found the meaning of Delicatessen.... (maybe thats a common word but I didn't know before) :P.

天星碼頭拆卸，搬到海岸不遠處的另一座新古典大樓，社會的文化人士紛紛喊，指政府不懂保存「古」。天星碼頭只有四十八年歷史，其鐘樓也是一座很平庸的建築物，用混凝土造成，比起中環的舊郵政局、舊尖沙嘴火車站的紅磚鐘樓，材料相當粗陋。比起倫敦的大笨鐘、巴黎的羅浮宮，恐怕不算甚麼「古」。對於三十歲以下的年輕一代，在他們成長的過程中，香港的主要交通工具早已不是渡輪，而是地下鐵路。對於新移民，這座鐘樓更沒有甚麼殖民地情感的「地標」意義，天星碼頭之「蜚聲國際」，因為五十年代末期的荷李活電影《蘇絲黃的世界》以天星渡輪取景。這部電影只是三流作品，今日的歐美遊客，恐怕也沒有幾個會為電影開頭威廉荷頓追尋蘇絲黃的一幕專門來香港看一看這座舊碼頭。世界上舊建築，不應該為遊客而保存，而是社會本身有實用和欣賞的需求。社會的欣賞和需求，則又與這個城市的經濟形態有關。例如意大利北部的塔斯坎尼近年成為歐美中產階級人士旅行的天堂，是英國首相貝理雅和美國明星湯告魯斯海外置業的至愛首選。塔斯坎尼不但是文藝復興的搖籃，大畫家達文西和雕塑家米開朗基羅在此地出生，而且塔斯坎尼沒有工業，至今經濟仍以釀酒為主，其出產的「奇揚提」（ Chianti ）舉世聞名，還有牛肉和橄欖油。塔斯坎尼的居民家中都有電視、電腦，城鎮都有戲院，他們都看過荷李活的文藝時裝電影，知道紐約和洛杉磯的美國中產階級不是住市中心的公寓，就是新澤西的花園洋房，擁有兩三輛汽車。然而塔斯坎尼的絕大多數居民恐怕並不羨慕這樣的物質生活，他們安逸於田園農家的悠閒野趣，看見紐約和洛杉磯的銀行家、富豪、退休外交家來到塔斯坎尼，讚歎城鎮無數中世紀堂的建築瑰寶，覺得非常自豪，他們大概都覺得，生而為意大利人，已經是上帝最大的眷顧，生在意大利的塔斯坎尼，不必富裕，已經擁有美食、佳釀、陽光、綠原，更是三生修來的六合彩頭獎。
意大利各地城鎮競選市長，不必提出甚麼「發展經濟」和「打造國際金融中心」一類的口號，也不必浪費時間討論意大利的「現代化」，到底該由米蘭、翡冷翠還是羅馬來做「龍頭」，西西里應該如何「開發」為高科技密集的「先進工業」特區。悠閒、快樂、知足、擁有此一共識，意大利全國的古名勝，就沒有甚麼保育不保育的無聊爭論。這種全民認同的共識，就叫做一個社會的「意識形態」。香港的「意識形態」跟意大利不同。香港缺乏藝術和音樂品味育，與珠三角和大陸各地城市一樣，全民追求「搵快錢」，在「發展經濟」的共識中一齊呼喊「抓緊機遇」。香港的四大經濟支柱是金融、物流、旅遊、服務，而旅遊又以「購物」為自由行的主流。香港的捕魚業早已沒落，大澳漁民的下一代不會留在大嶼山的西陲繼承曬鹹魚和製蝦醬的「祖傳食品工業」。香港的青少年視聽粵劇為「老餅」趣味、看中醫和跌打為落後過時的習俗。天星碼頭的兩三輛黃包車將會在幾年內完全「淘汰」。香港人喜歡「變」，因為變而聚財，變而生氣，香港是動態的，令東來的一個歐洲人驚歎其活力。但塔斯坎尼是靜態的，香港人去到那，除了掃購紅酒，會覺得意大利的鄉下生活十分「悶」，香港的「文化精英」，組團去塔斯坎尼飲紅酒者不少，在那置業定居，重尋老莊無為生活之樂的，一個也無。香港的「發展」動力是地產經濟，這就決定了香港一切「古」最終必然要全部拆毀的歷史命運。不但香港、北京、上海、杭州、廣州，也步上「香港式經濟奇」的後塵，西湖將會填掉一半「發展」房地產，故宮太和殿和午門之間的空地，只要出得起錢，也將能興建幾座獨立的西班牙別墅，這只是時間問題。全民「奔小康」，包括香港人在內的中國人民，心中「小康生活」的定義，是紐約多層高樓的公寓和美式的花園洋房，在此「意識形態」的洪流之間，沒有給「名勝古」預留一席位。
十年前我剛從外國回來不久，也強烈主張香港的舊建築一幢也不要拆，以為巴黎、羅馬、塔斯坎尼，也是那樣的。今天我看開了。新界的稻田變成衞星城鎮之間怪異的「西班牙別墅」的丁屋，也是一種「市場民主」。香港和歐洲不同，中國小農的暴發式消費慾，跟塔斯坎尼田園居民的清靜之心，也屬於兩個世界，各有各的吸引力，對於古的保養和維修，中國人的能力和才華也無法跟意大利人相比，不可把歐洲的一套價值觀強加於東方。英國在全球殖民地留下的舊建築，香港的那幾座僅屬末流，例如印度加爾各答的維多利亞紀念堂，與香港的前立法局大樓同期，但氣派和風格卻以加爾各答的那座為優。新加坡的富萊敦酒店和人文博物館前身的殖民地議會廳，維多利亞風格比香港殘留的任何一座都更為華美。身為地球村的國際公民，有時不必拘泥於甚麼「文化定位」、「香港兒時記憶」，這一切，執也勉強不來，因為中國和香港的意識形態主流是「發展」兩個字。市場的力量跟民意一樣，是阻擋不了的，何況香港是一座沒有記憶的城市，中國的下一代，許多連毛澤東是誰也不知道。一個香港的「文化」中產階級，如果擁有成熟的消費力，可以在香港賺錢，去曼谷度周末，去北海道過聖誕，在倫敦買房子，因為機票愈來愈便宜。香港的草根階層，更沒有「文化懷舊」的閒情，喜歡家小同逛沙田第一城的冷氣商場，多於去「喜帖街」和「雀仔街」跟歐洲白人遊客一樣回頭駐足欣賞香港的「本土傳統」。香港的特首並非民選，區議會則雖是民選，關心的議題似乎是修建新公廁、擴闊馬路多於保存大佛口的一座色彩怪異的「藍屋」。真正的「文化人」，先要學會超越填海的維多利亞港，放下地域的包袱。四十八年之後，新的那幢仿古典的天星碼頭也會成為「古」。

I actually haven't bought the album yet, but listened to this in Virgin yesterday.... I have gone through all the tracks once but not yet listen to them properly. The reason why I love this album is because it's so much more than just an album!!! What I love is the whole package, from the design to the promotion and the artwork to the installation~~ Yea~ I'm so much loving it!

Hey Eiji, I think I have to give up saying I am not too much into Radiohead. The fact is I didn't listen and see too much of their work and, not enough anyway, sorry~ Or maybe because everything about them were always been told by someone else before but now I've just found out more by myself. Actually I use to love their album "A kid" quite a lot... (and again the whole package~). I even start loving Thom Yorke after reading article about him and some of his interviews~ :D... He is such a musian who I think a musician should be...~~ ^_^ of cause he is... and I shouldn't have doubted it~ (I was too easy to like/dislike something before really understand it :P everything decided by feeling doesn't really work... i have to change!)

Ah~ and I found that he has collaborated with those musician I love~ UNKLE, Sparklehorse, bjork~ something more to read... about Thom haha....

Stanley Donwood~ the artist who did the fantastic cd cover~ don't need to say much, just look! how amazing woodcut graphic! Maybe I m more suitable to be an artist than a designer~ (or maybe all designers have the same thought :P) The artwork is called London Views.

I have just started reading a book called "WHATEVER YOU THINK THINK THE OPPOSITE". it is kinda the second part of "IT'S NOT HOW GOOD YOU ARE, IT'S HOW GOOD YOU WANT TO BE". I think the success of these books (it says the author, Paul Arden is the author of the world's bestselling book, I m already one of the people who were trapped) are all about calculations, not much it is telling indeed. But I mean sometime, when you feel boring and you pick up and read a couple pages. It seems that, you would get something... maybe actually nothing but it starts you thinking. Somehow it is cool, init?

One of the pages talked about Kodak saying Kodak was meaningless and in those days nobody gave random names to serious products. The reasons for choosing the name were that it was short; that it was not open to mispronunciation; and it could not be associated with anything else. Even today corporations cannot think like that. Only entrepreneurs can.

haha~~ we choose our name because it starts with "a" which is always in a higher piority in the links page; and it's the same number as the bus I use to take from home to HK Island; that also the room number of where we use to work (but now the location of a storeroom). Haha~ somehow, we think in entrepreneurs way~

(However, when I looked for the image to put here, I found that Amazon is selling it in half price T_T from £7.99 --> £3.99 .\/. very frustrated! Think in a opposite way? Sell it in amazon in full price? damn)
